Jan. 7th, 2007 Scotty's Castle, Uberhebe Crater and the Racetack

Today we are off to Scottys Castle then Uberhebe Crater and then the Racetrack. We arrived at Scotty’s Castle at about 10 AM and took the tour of the vacation home of Albert Johnson built in the 1920’s to 30’s. It was called Scotty’s Castle because he was the swindler that got Albert interested in Death Valley. He became friends of the Johnsons and lived at the Castle until his death in the 1950’s.
Then off to Uberhebe Crater, that exploded about 2000 years ago.
Then off to the Racetrack via Teapot Junction to see the rock movement on the clay lake. It was a long day. The 27 miles to the Racetrack took about 1 and ½ hours to get there and we left at sunset and arrived back to our campsite at 8PM. We both enjoyed the day.
