Jan. 13th, 2007 the da Vinci Exhibit and the Palm Springs Air Museum

On Friday Night we went to a dinner theater at the park. We had roast pork with peas, stuffing and gravy. It was very good. Then the entertainment ‘Laughing Bird’ began. They sang and did comedy, and were very entertaining.

This morning we went to the daVinci Exhibit at the Palm Springs Air Museum, then of course we went to the air museum.
The exhibit was, “A special exhibit of more than 60 precise and interactive replicas of the transportation, military and mechanical devices developed by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century.” The exhibit did not spend very much time on the paintings, just on the replicas. The exhibit was very well done, with lots of hands on with the displays. I even built a bridge with no screws or bolts.

Then, at noon, off to the Palm Springs Air Museum. The program for the day was 1st a talk with a test pilot from the 60’s then they are to fly one of the 21 flyable aircrafts and 6 static aircrafts on display.
The test pilot is Billy Jack “BJ” Long, Commander BJ Long, USNR-Retired reviewed his Convair San Diego Test Pilot experience on Navy XF2Y and YF2Y Seadart supersonic seaplanes. He had slides and video to aide in his presentation. He is an excellent speaker, in his 80’s with a dry sense of humor.
The flight demonstration is of a P-63 the Bell’s ‘KingCobra’. The flight made 2 passes of the airfield before landing. The flight went perfectly.
On the way home we bought groceries and by the time we got home it was suppertime.
