We left on the Bergman and went just south of Florence. Then we took a part paved and part dirt road over a mountain pass to Riverside. Then off to Superior and back to Casa Grande to complete the loop.

Canada Day Potluck at Palm Creek.
Terry goes on a hike with the Hiking Club
Palm Creek RV and Golf resort has many clubs, one of them is the hiking club. Today I went on my first hike with the club.
Today we hiked part of the Arizona Trail. The Arizona Trail is a 790 mile non-motorized trail traversing the entire State of Arizona from Utah to Mexico. The trail is open to hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers.
Today we hiked a trail called Picketpost South. This is a 6 mile hike with a C+ rating. We took about 4 hours to hike this trip.
We walked uphill for two hours, then had lunch and returned the two hours.

Going back to Casa Grande.
The last day of the balloon festival is today but the wind was terrible and no balloons went up today. We left early back to Casa Grande and Palm Creek RV Park.
We had an uneventful drive except when we made the last corner off the interstate the ride height valve support broke.
I ordered a new part from Newmar and had it fixed by the next weekend.

Day 2 at Lake Havasu.
The day started with the flag raising at sunrise.
The weather was perfect and balloons are everywhere.
Old planes and ultra lights competed for airspace.
Then a walk along the park on the island
In the afternoon we took the scooter to Parker Dam.
Parker Dam was completed in 1938. The dam is 320 feet in height, the crest length is 856 feet. The power house has 4 30,000 KVA generators powered by the 78 foot head of water.
Lake Havasu is created by this dam. The Lake is 45 miles long and 1 mile wide storing 619,400 acre feet of water.
That evening we went to the night glow but again it was too windy for the balloons, so just the candles.

The Opening day of the First Annual Balloon Festival
Today the balloons had a planned 4 pm assent but the wind did NOT co-operate and this was cancelled. A few brave balloonist did an evening glow and many did a candle( burners on without the balloon attached.).
We started the day with a walking tour of the London Bridge.
View from the London Bridge.
Then off to the balloon festival.
The festival had lots of venders. I enjoyed this sign on one of the booths.
There is a show and shine, old tractors, a stage with live music and a small amusement carnival.

Trip to Lake Havasu and Their First Annual Balloon Festival
After the trip to Saint Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery we fired up the motorhome and went to Lake Havasu to attend their First Annual Balloon Festival.
The trip went well and we arrived at sunset. We had made reservations with the balloon festival for a camping spot. The camping is on the parking lot of the marina. More photos tomorrow.
Saint Anthonys Greek Orthodox Monastery
Today we went on a photoclub shoot of a monastery near Florence.
In the summer of 1995 six monks arrived in the southern Arizona desert to establish St. Anthony’s Monastery, carrying with them the sacred, millenial heritage of the Holy Mountain, Athos.
Six church's, Olive trees, Orange, lemon and Great fruit trees. Every turn had a garden or a fountain or a church.
Teri had to wear a long dress, socks and a scarf.
My entry into the photoclub. The topic is Architecture. This photo called ‘looking up’ did not make the top 10.
