Today was road trip along highway 1 North to Big Sur and return. The coast is very rugged on most of the trip north.
The first long stop was at the Elephant Seal board walk. We did see many seal elephants but we did see these as well.
The large mature male elephant seals are on their sea migration in April. But, in December and January it is the battle for dominance the February is for mating. So all the elephant seals in these photos are female or juvenile/subadult males. In April the female seals are here to molt.
